Balochistan establishes traditions of democratic tolerance, mutual respect, and political maturity between government and opposition: Bugti
Quetta, Speaker of the National Assembly, Sardar Ayaz Sadiq, visited the Chief Minister’s Secretariat in Quetta on Wednesday, where he met Chief Minister Balochistan, Mir Sarfraz Bugti, members of the provincial cabinet, and lawmakers from both government and opposition benches.
The meeting centered on matters of mutual interest, including Balochistan’s development, public issues, and the promotion of democratic and parliamentary traditions in the province.
Welcoming the Speaker’s visit, Chief Minister Bugti said Ayaz Sadiq’s presence in Quetta was an honor and a source of happiness. He emphasized that Balochistan belongs to all, and the province has established traditions of democratic tolerance, mutual respect, and political maturity between government and opposition. Bugti noted that while criticism is part of parliamentary practice, it is conducted within the bounds of ethics and respect, reflecting the positive political culture of Balochistan.
He added that government and opposition members sitting together demonstrates democratic maturity and sends a positive message to visitors from other provinces and abroad. Bugti expressed hope that the traditions of tolerance and mutual respect in Balochistan will continue to strengthen.
Speaking on the occasion, Ayaz Sadiq expressed his deep and longstanding connection with Balochistan, noting that his family’s ties with the province span three generations. He said Balochistan is not unfamiliar to him, as its people have always welcomed him with love, respect, and sincerity. “The soil, traditions, and people of Balochistan hold special importance for me, and I remain grateful for the affection shown by its people,” he remarked.
The Speaker assured that the doors of the National Assembly remain open for all members and citizens of Balochistan. He pledged full cooperation from the federal government to address the province’s challenges and ensure its progress, stressing that Balochistan’s development is integral to Pakistan’s overall prosperity.
Ayaz Sadiq also praised the hospitality of the people of Balochistan, saying that every visit feels like coming home. Both leaders agreed that fostering respect, consultation, and cooperation among political leadership is essential for advancing Balochistan’s development, public welfare, and democratic values.
