Chief Minister Balochistan Mir Sarfraz Ahmed Bugti inaugurated a special calligraphy exhibition titled “Rasool E Rehmat (PBUH)” at Serena Hotel Quetta on Tuesday, organized by the Department of Culture, Government of Balochistan as part of Pakistan’s Independence Day 2026 celebrations.

The exhibition showcases 27 unique masterpieces created by renowned calligrapher Wasil Shahid, featuring Quranic verses adorned with gold leaf and presented in diverse styles of Islamic calligraphy. The works highlight universal values of love, brotherhood, tolerance, peace, respect for humanity, and mutual goodwill.

Speaking at the event, Chief Minister Bugti toured the exhibition and praised Wasil Shahid’s artistic contributions. He said the initiative reflects Balochistan’s rich cultural traditions and creative spirit, while promoting positive thinking, peace, and harmony among the younger generation.

Calligrapher Wasil Shahid described calligraphy as “a journey from consciousness to the soul,” emphasizing that when Quranic verses are transformed into artistic masterpieces, the responsibility extends beyond aesthetics to conveying a profound spiritual message. He expressed hope that his work would inspire youth toward creativity, peace, and love.

The Department of Culture stated that the exhibition is part of a broader series of cultural, literary, and artistic activities across the province aimed at fostering national unity, cultural harmony, and creative expression. Officials noted that the exhibition seeks to promote Islamic calligraphy while conveying the Quran’s message of mercy, peace, and humanity in a visually compelling form.

The department expressed gratitude to Chief Minister Bugti, calligrapher Wasil Shahid, and Serena Hotel Quetta for their support, adding that such cultural events will play an effective role in encouraging artistic talent, promoting peace and tolerance, and strengthening Balochistan’s diverse cultural identity.

The “Rasool E Rehmat (PBUH)” exhibition will continue at Serena Hotel Quetta from August 11 to 13, offering students, youth, art enthusiasts, and the general public an opportunity to experience the beauty of Islamic calligraphy.
