Quetta Metropolitan Corporation intensifies anti-encroachment drive to improve municipal facilities
On the directives of Chief Minister Balochistan Mir Sarfraz Bugti and under the instructions of Quetta Metropolitan Corporation Administrator Basheer Ahmed Barech, the city administration has intensified its campaign against illegal encroachments to ensure better municipal facilities for citizens.
In a recent operation supervised by Municipal Magistrate Imran Zaib Kasi, encroachments were removed from Doctor Bano Road and Tola Ram Road. During the drive, shopkeepers who had placed goods on roads and footpaths, obstructing pedestrian movement, were penalized. The municipal team arrested six shopkeepers for violating regulations and shifted them to jail.
Speaking on the occasion, Magistrate Kasi stated that illegal encroachments on roads, footpaths, and public spaces will not be tolerated under any circumstances. He noted that such practices not only cause inconvenience to citizens but also disrupt the smooth flow of traffic.
The Metropolitan Corporation has announced that similar operations will continue across different parts of Quetta in a more effective manner. Shopkeepers have been instructed to keep their goods strictly within designated limits and refrain from occupying public roads and sidewalks.
According to the municipal administration, the purpose of the anti-encroachment campaign is to improve traffic flow, make footpaths accessible for pedestrians, and maintain Quetta as a clean, organized, and attractive city. Officials have made it clear that strict action will continue against violators without discrimination, ensuring that public spaces remain open and functional for citizens.
