Preserving Balochistan’s cultural heritage is our shared responsibility
Chief Minister Balochistan Mir Sarfraz Bugti has emphasized that the province’s rich cultural heritage is a precious asset and safeguarding it is a collective responsibility.
He made these remarks during a meeting with renowned singer and artist Arif Bugti, where discussions centered on promoting Balochistan’s folk culture, music, and centuries-old oral traditions in modern forms for the younger generation.
The Chief Minister praised Arif Bugti’s creative effort in presenting the folk tale “Saml” through a new musical rendition, calling it a commendable initiative to connect youth with their cultural roots. Bugti noted that Balochistan’s traditions, folklore, and music are integral to its historical and cultural identity, and must be highlighted globally in ways that resonate with contemporary audiences.
He further stated that Balochistan’s artists and singers are playing a vital role in showcasing the province’s heritage through their creative talents, and that adapting folk stories into modern music is an effective way to engage the younger generation.
Sarfraz Bugti reaffirmed the government’s commitment to promoting arts, culture, and creative activities, announcing that platforms will be provided to talented artists to project their work at national and international levels.
Arif Bugti expressed gratitude to the Chief Minister for his encouragement and for the government’s initiatives to preserve cultural heritage. Concluding the meeting, CM Bugti reiterated: “Balochistan’s cultural heritage is our valuable treasure, and preserving it is a responsibility we all share.”
