PAC reviews Washuk District Council development budget; sub‑committee formed for detailed probe
The Public Accounts Committee (PAC) convened a meeting at the Balochistan Assembly Committee Room under the chairmanship of Asghar Ali Tareen. Committee members Zumrak Khan Achakzai, Mir Muhammad Khan Lehri, Rahmat Saleh Baloch, and Zabid Ali Reki attended, along with Secretary Local Government Abdul Rauf Baloch, Special Secretary PAC Siraj Lehri, Additional Secretary Law Saeed Iqbal, Chairman District Council Washuk Elahi Bakhsh Reki, and other officials.
The meeting was held in light of a report presented by MPA (PB‑31) and PAC member Zabid Ali Reki regarding the Washuk District Council’s development budget for fiscal year 2025‑26. The report highlighted that the Rs. 71.500 million development budget was approved and processed without taking the District Council Chairman and thirteen elected members into confidence. Discrepancies were also noted between the budget approved by the District Council and the version uploaded on the Balochistan Public Procurement Regulatory Authority (BPPRA) portal.
During the session, all original and certified records related to the Washuk District Council’s development budget were presented before the committee. Members reviewed approved budget documents, estimates, agendas, proceedings, resolutions, scheme‑wise fund details, administrative and technical approvals, PC‑I forms, tender documents, BPPRA records, work orders, correspondence, and other relevant files.
Chairman Asghar Ali Tareen emphasized that the PAC will fulfill its constitutional and legal responsibility to ensure transparent, effective, and lawful utilization of public resources. He stated that the proceedings should serve as a model for accountability, transparency, and good governance in the future.
To further investigate the matter, the committee formed a sub‑committee tasked with conducting a detailed review of all available records and evidence. The sub‑committee has been directed to submit its report to the PAC within ten days. The meeting was later adjourned with the chairman’s approval.
