Balochistan Cabinet spproves wide‑ranging public welfare and governance measures
Sarfraz Bugti vows to provide better facilities to people, strengthen governance, improve law and order, accelerate development
Quetta, Chief Minister Balochistan Mir Sarfraz Bugti chaired a key meeting of the provincial cabinet at the Chief Minister’s Secretariat, where a series of important decisions were approved to strengthen governance, improve public services, and accelerate development across the province.
The meeting opened with prayers for the martyrs of security forces and civilian victims of recent incidents. Among the major approvals was the launch of Phase Three of the Chief Minister Scholarship Program, which will provide admission to 300 children of registered workers from Balochistan in quality boarding schools in Islamabad, ensuring access to high‑standard education and better future opportunities.
To enhance local governance, the cabinet upgraded Union Councils Mesi Zai and Mai Zai to municipal committee status and sanctioned the establishment of a new municipal committee in Gulistan. In a landmark move, the cabinet declared the entire province a police area following the merger of the Levies Force into the police. It also appointed SP Nabeel Ahmed as Chief Operating Officer of the Balochistan Safe City Authority and approved the formation of a parole board.
Further measures included the establishment of a new police station at Marble City, Hub, to safeguard industrial and commercial activity, and the approval of the Balochistan Planning Manual to improve development planning and execution. The cabinet also endorsed the Balochistan Child Protection Rules 2026, describing them as a significant step forward in safeguarding children’s rights.
Other approvals included the Balochistan Cadet Colleges Amendment Act 2026, extension of the Prosecutor General’s contract for two years, adoption of the Balochistan Hybrid Vet Procurement Policy 2026 to ensure transparency in government purchases, and the service level agreement for the Quetta Safe City Project. Financing proposals for the Harnai–Sibi Road were cleared, along with service rules for the Gwadar Development Authority (Grades 1–21). A new tehsil and subdivision in Nasirabad district were also sanctioned.
Addressing the meeting, Chief Minister Bugti said the cabinet’s decisions aim to provide better facilities to the people, strengthen governance, improve law and order, accelerate development, and reinforce the administrative structure. He reaffirmed that the government is fully committed to the public welfare agenda and will ensure timely and effective implementation of all cabinet decisions.
