Naseerabad clinches Independence Day cricket title in Quetta sports festival

 

Under the vision of Chief Minister Balochistan Mir Sarfraz Bugti, the Independence Day Sports Festival concluded with the final of the cricket tournament at Bugti Cricket Stadium, where Naseerabad Division defeated Kalat Division by four wickets to claim the trophy.

 

Batting first, Kalat Division posted a competitive total of 185 runs in the allotted 20 overs, setting a target of 186 for Naseerabad. In reply, Naseerabad displayed remarkable batting prowess, chasing down the target in just 17 overs with four wickets in hand. Star batsman Qazi Najeeb once again shone with an unbeaten half‑century, while Abid Sarki, Zubair Mengal, and Ali Bleedi contributed crucial match‑winning innings to secure victory.

 

The final match was attended by Provincial Adviser for Sports and Youth Affairs Meena Majid Baloch, Parliamentary Secretary for Transport Mir Liaqat Lehri, Secretary Sports Dara Baloch, and Director General Sports Yasar Khan Bazai. Addressing the ceremony, the chief guests congratulated Naseerabad Division on their outstanding success, noting that Independence Day symbolizes unity, solidarity, and patriotism. They emphasized that organizing sports competitions during national celebrations provides youth with opportunities to showcase their talents and engage in healthy activities.

 

At the closing ceremony, trophies, medals, and cash prizes were distributed among the winning and runner‑up teams. Naseerabad Division received the championship trophy along with Rs 250,000, while Kalat Division was awarded the runner‑up trophy and Rs 150,000.
