Merit-based recruitment strengthens youth confidence in state institutions

Aide to the Chief Minister Balochistan on Media and Political Affairs Shahid Rind has said that the provincial government is committed to ensuring transparency, merit, and equal opportunities in public sector employment, emphasizing that government jobs are the right of deserving youth and not the property of any individual or family.

In a statement, Shahid Rind highlighted that the appointment of 19 officers in the Balochistan Revenue Authority (BRA) was carried out purely on merit, without any recommendation or external pressure. He noted that Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti had made it clear from the very first day that government jobs would not be sold and would only be awarded on merit.

Shahid Rind pointed out that under this policy, more than 4,500 teachers in the Education Department and 111 positions in the Finance Department were also filled transparently. He stressed that the recent BRA appointments are a continuation of this merit-based approach, adding that the fact that no candidate from the Chief Minister’s own district was selected is proof of the fairness and impartiality of the recruitment process.

He said the government’s objective is not merely to provide jobs but to establish a transparent system where every young person has equal opportunity to progress based on ability and competence. Merit-based recruitment, he added, enhances institutional capacity and restores youth confidence in state institutions.

Shahid Rind acknowledged that past practices of favoritism and nepotism had created frustration among youth, but the current government is taking practical steps to eliminate this perception. He reiterated that government jobs are not hereditary privileges but the rightful claim of capable and deserving youth.

He further stated that the appointment of qualified officers in BRA will contribute to economic and administrative improvement, as the newly recruited officers will play a vital role in provincial development, revenue enhancement, and institutional reforms.

Shahid Rind concluded that the Balochistan government remains firmly committed to the principles of meritocracy, transparency, and good governance, and will continue to prioritize merit in future recruitments. He affirmed that the youth are the future of Balochistan, and the government is determined to provide them with dignified employment, equal opportunities for growth, and a conducive environment to showcase their talents.
