Gwadar prepares for Independence Day celebrations with flag march and cultural programs
Gwadar, A meeting chaired by Additional Deputy Commissioner General Dr. Abdul Shakoor reviewed arrangements for the upcoming Independence Day celebrations on August 14, 2026. The session was attended by Assistant Commissioner Gwadar Romail Niam Jan, district officers, and heads of relevant departments.
Officials assigned special responsibilities to government departments to ensure the national day is celebrated in a befitting manner. Plans include flag hoisting ceremonies, decoration and illumination of government buildings and major roads, sanitation drives, security measures, and traffic management.
Under city branding initiatives, Gwadar Port Authority, Gwadar Development Authority, Gwadar Industrial Estate Development Authority, Communication & Works Department, Public Health Engineering, Irrigation, Local Government, and the Chief Municipal Officer will install 200 streamers and four large panaflex billboards across the city. All government offices have been directed to complete flag hoisting and decorative arrangements by August 10.
The Education Department, University of Gwadar, Government Boys Degree College, and Government Girls Degree College will organize speeches, national songs, tableaux, cultural programs, and plays promoting national unity during the central ceremony.
On August 14, a flag march rally will be led by the Assistant Commissioner Gwadar, with participation from officers, staff, and institutions. At 9:00 a.m., the central flag hoisting ceremony will be held at the Deputy Commissioner’s Office, where the national flag will be raised, the anthem performed, and special prayers offered for Pakistan’s progress, prosperity, peace, and stability.
