Gwadar Port moves towards launch of ground trade activities
Karachi/Gwadar, Significant progress has been made towards initiating ground trade activities from Gwadar Port, as an important meeting was held under the chairmanship of Gwadar Port Chairman Noor‑ul‑Haq Baloch at the Directorate General Transit Trade, Customs House Karachi.
The meeting was attended by Director General Transit Trade of Pakistan Customs, traders engaged in Iranian transit and TIR (Transports Internationaux Routiers) operations, clearing agents, Collector Customs Gwadar Basit Hussain, Additional Director Transit Karachi G. Haider Mahesar, GM Multimodal NLC Azam Riaz Idrees, senior member Gwadar Chamber of Commerce and Industry (GCCI) Yasir Hussain Dashti, GCCI Secretary Khalid Saif, GPA Director Captain Gul Muhammad, representative of Panjgur Chamber of Commerce Syed Muhammad, GPA Deputy Director Shabbir Ahmed, representative of Makran Chamber of Commerce Imam Hussain, and other officials. DG Transit Trade Irfan Javed, Collector Customs, Collector Trade Transit Quetta, and representatives of border trade and Gwadar Chamber of Commerce including Jind Hot and Naveed Kalmati joined the proceedings online via Zoom.
The meeting discussed in detail issues and obstacles related to Iranian transit, TIR operations, and other ground trade activities through Gwadar Port. Various matters were deliberated to make trade operations smoother and more efficient. It was decided that another meeting will soon be convened in Gwadar, bringing together relevant officials, traders, and clearing agents to present their concerns and suggestions directly to the authorities.
The session was described as an important step forward in efforts to activate ground trade activities from Gwadar Port and to promote transit trade in the region.
