Governor Mandokhail directs Banks to expand Apna Ghar Programme in Balochistan

Governor Balochistan Jaffar Khan Mandokhail convened a meeting at the Governor House Quetta with the State Bank of Pakistan and regional heads of all commercial banks to review the implementation of the Prime Minister’s Apna Ghar Programme. The session focused on housing finance, loan procedures, and expanding the scheme to more districts to ensure maximum public benefit.

Governor Jaffar Mandokhail stressed that loan provision must guarantee equal application of taxes on the people of Balochistan, similar to other provinces. He directed the Finance, Revenue, and other relevant departments to play an active role and improve their performance, warning that negligence or laxity would not be tolerated.

Highlighting the importance of the Apna Ghar Programme for low- and middle-income groups, the Governor said the initiative aims to provide concessional housing finance for purchasing homes, constructing houses on owned plots, or supporting ongoing construction. He noted that many citizens in Balochistan are unfamiliar with banking systems, loan procedures, required documentation, and application processes.

Jaffar Mandokhail instructed banks to launch comprehensive awareness campaigns, display informational banners at key locations, and ensure program details are communicated in simple language. He emphasized that the number of beneficiaries in Balochistan remains low and urged banks to accelerate loan provision, simplify online facilities, and extend guidance to citizens in remote areas.

The Governor assured that the provincial government is also making relevant departments more active to minimize obstacles related to land, documentation, and other matters. He directed that another meeting be held in six weeks, where banks will present progress reports on applications received, loans approved and disbursed, awareness initiatives, and challenges faced.
