Governor lauds University of Turbat’s progress at 10th Senate meeting
Quetta, Governor Balochistan Jaffar Khan Mandokhail has praised the University of Turbat for emerging as a distinguished institution of higher education, highlighting its achievements in academic excellence, gender inclusion, and institutional governance.
Presiding over the 10th Senate meeting of the University of Turbat, the Governor noted that the university stands out as the only institution in Pakistan where female students constitute more than half of the total enrollment, describing this as a powerful symbol of social change and educational progress.
He commended the students’ passion for learning and book culture, urging them to continue their pursuit of knowledge, which he termed “the most powerful investment for a bright future.”
Governor Jaffar Mandokhail also applauded the university’s remarkable improvement in ranking and scoring performance, which has reached 91.4 percent, crediting Vice Chancellor Professor Dr. Gul Hassan and his team for their dedication. He emphasized, however, that excellence is a continuous process and this achievement should be seen as a milestone rather than the final destination.
The Governor underscored the constitutional and administrative significance of the Senate, likening its role within the university to that of a cabinet in government. He stressed that decisions taken by the Senate after due deliberation are final and binding, ensuring transparency, accountability, and consistency in institutional governance.
The meeting was attended by Provincial Education Minister Raheela Hameed Khan Durrani, Justice Sardar Ahmed Halimi of the Balochistan High Court, Vice Chancellor Dr. Gul Hassan, Provincial Secretary Higher Education Saleh Baloch, HEC representative Dr. Zahoor Bazai, Principal Secretary to the Governor Abdul Nasir Dotani, Pro Vice Chancellor Dr. Kamal Ahmed, faculty deans, registrar, directors, and all Senate members.
Several important decisions were taken during the session based on the recommendations and proposals of the participants, aimed at further strengthening the university’s academic and administrative framework.
