Governor Balochistan calls Pashtun Culture Day a renewal of commitment to heritage and modern progress
Governor Balochistan Jaffar Khan Mandokhail extended warm greetings to the Pashtuns, particularly the youth, on the occasion of Pashtun Culture Day, urging them to seek light from their history, identity from their culture, strength from knowledge, and hope from their future.
In his message, the Governor emphasized the need to build a society where attachment to cultural roots and harmony with modern demands complement each other rather than conflict. He described human civilization as a continuous journey of creativity, intellectual growth, and social progress, noting that the word culture originates from the Latin term cultura, initially linked to cultivation and fertility, which later expanded to encompass the development of human thought, society, and civilization.
Governor Mandokhail highlighted that Pashtun society continues to preserve its distinct identity through traditional attire, cuisine, dance, the jirga justice system, generosity, humanism, and hospitality. He said the beauty of Pashtun culture lies in its collective spirit, dignity, and mutual respect. Symbols such as the shamla (turban) and shal (shawl), he added, represent dignity and inclusivity, and true progress can only be achieved when men and women move forward together with equal respect, opportunities, and responsibilities.
He stressed that Pashtun Culture Day is not merely a day of remembrance but also one of renewal. The Governor urged the community to safeguard their language, literature, history, and cultural heritage while advancing in education, science, technology, and research. He said the younger generation must take pride in their identity while equipping themselves to meet the challenges of the modern world, which would mark the community’s true success.
