GDA approves new development projects; reviews progress on old town rehabilitation and infrastructure works

 

Gwadar, Director General Gwadar Development Authority (GDA), Moin ur Rehman Khan, chaired two important meetings to approve new development projects and review the financial and physical progress of ongoing schemes under GDA.

 

The meetings were attended by Chief Engineer GDA Haji Syed Muhammad, Director Town Planning Shahid Ali, Superintending Engineer Roads, Controller Buildings Nadir Baloch, Project Director Water Mir Jan Baloch, Project Director Old Town Rehabilitation Mir Dawood Khan Marri, Director Finance Abdul Shakoor, and other engineers and officials.

 

In the first session, the Departmental Development Working Party (DDWP) approved several projects, including repair and construction of Marine Drive from Governor House to Pishkan, enhancement and repair of Central Park boundary wall, construction of GDA Club boundary wall, allied works of the under-construction causeway on Marine Drive, and construction of a causeway at Surbandar. Approval of the drip irrigation project on Syed Zahoor Shah Hashmi Road was made conditional on availability of funds.

 

The second session reviewed progress on ongoing projects, addressing challenges and measures for timely completion. Project Director Old Town Rehabilitation briefed that priority works include construction of a road network in the old city, street pavement in various wards, upgradation of Shahi Bazaar and Jannat Bazaar, renovation of Eidgah, rehabilitation of football, futsal and volleyball grounds, upgrading of health centers and schools, cemetery boundary walls and prayer halls, façade works, and the Model Mohalla Project.

 

Completed projects include Sorag Dil Ground, Young Jan Volleyball and Futsal Ground, construction and blacktopping of Dimi Zar Road, structural works on seven link roads at East Bay, construction and blacktopping of Ustad Abdul Majeed Gwadari Road from Javed Complex to Marine Drive, blacktopping of roads from Marine Drive to Eidgah, construction of Shaheen Chowk to DHQ Hospital Road, drainage and street works from Thana Ward to Airport Road, and provision of furniture to Government Girls and Boys High Schools.

 

Project Director Water Mir Jan Baloch reported completion of multiple water supply schemes in Kalanch villages, commencement of sewage treatment plant work at Central Park, and initiation of another STP project. Executive Engineer Qasim Baloch informed that Marine Drive causeway construction is in final stages, while work on Surbandar causeway will begin soon. Drainage outlet construction from Bilal Mosque to Dimi Zar is also underway.

 

DG GDA Moin ur Rehman Khan directed strict adherence to transparency, quality standards, engineering specifications, and timely completion of all projects. He expressed displeasure over complaints regarding certain Old Town Rehabilitation works and instructed engineers to ensure on-site presence and effective monitoring. He warned that negligence or delays in project quality and pace will not be tolerated.

 

He reaffirmed that all projects must meet prescribed standards to provide citizens with durable, high-quality, and sustainable facilities.
