Commissioner Lasbela assures support for Rescue 1122 amid salary delays

Commissioner Lasbela Division, Saira Atta, praised the services of Emergency Rescue Center 1122 in handling crises, particularly in the context of the prevailing security situation. She assured that the divisional administration would extend full support to the rescue organization. She expressed these views while meeting a delegation of Rescue 1122 employees at the Commissioner’s camp office in Hub.

During the meeting, Commissioner Saira Atta acknowledged the lack of firefighting equipment for rescue staff during fire incidents on the Coastal Highway and RCD Highway, as well as the issue of salary delays. She assured immediate steps to resolve these matters.

She emphasized that the issues of MERC Rescue 1122, the largest emergency service in Lasbela Division dedicated to saving lives, would be addressed on a priority basis. She added that technical human resources would be provided with modern facilities.

The Monitoring Officer of MERC Rescue 1122 briefed the Commissioner that 128 rescue employees have been awaiting salaries for the past three months. He explained that drivers, emergency medical technicians, fire rescuers, and control room operators have been serving since 2019 on a project basis. After the project’s completion in November 2025, the Health Department took over the service.

He highlighted that over the past eight years, rescue staff have risked their lives to save thousands of people in road accidents, cardiac emergencies, maternity cases, fires, and natural disasters.

Commissioner Saira Atta, acknowledging the importance of emergency services on the Coastal Highway and Quetta-Karachi Highway, summoned the Director General of the rescue organization to Lasbela for an urgent coordination meeting.
