CM Sarfraz Bugti urges youth to choose development over violence
Bugti underscore government’s commitment to merit, transparency, and accountability
Quetta, Chief Minister Balochistan, Mir Sarfraz Bugti, has said that the gap between the youth and the state will be bridged through education, skills, employment, merit, and meaningful dialogue. He emphasized that the government is committed to providing opportunities, resources, and guidance to young people so they can become part of the legal economy instead of unlawful activities.
Speaking at a TVET graduation certificate distribution ceremony at the Chief Minister’s Secretariat, organized under the government‑funded Resilience, Integration and Socio‑Economic Empowerment Programme for graduates from Kech, Gwadar, Panjgur, and Kharan, the Chief Minister said the aim is not merely to train youth and hand them certificates but to enable them to stand on their own feet.
He announced that the government will provide a conducive environment, interest‑free loans, business support, and continuous guidance to trained youth so they can establish dignified enterprises across the province.
Sarfraz Bugti highlighted that the initiative particularly encourages women, noting that many young women have stepped out of their homes to acquire skills and begin new journeys despite social challenges. He said empowering women is central to the government’s vision, citing global examples such as Bangladesh where women’s economic participation has significantly advanced national development.
The Chief Minister stressed that the real challenge is not violence itself but reconnecting the youth with the state. He said that attempts to lure young women into extremism and violence are against social traditions, Islamic values, and humanity, and must be countered through education, skills, and employment opportunities. He added that the government has introduced a comprehensive package of training, financial assistance, and interest‑free loans to integrate youth into the legal economy.
Sarfraz Bugti also underscored the government’s commitment to merit, transparency, and accountability, noting that over 15,000 teachers have been recruited on merit and that corruption eradication campaigns are being pursued vigorously. He pointed to initiatives such as the Jinnah Peoples Train, Pink Bus, and Green Bus services as examples of modern facilities provided for citizens, urging the public to protect government assets.
He further announced that scholarships and opportunities for higher education, including PhD programmes at leading global universities such as Harvard and Oxford, are being created for Balochistan’s youth. He said the government has allocated Rs. 3 billion for youth programmes this year, with plans to expand funding to Rs. 9 billion and beyond if implementation remains effective.
Concluding his address, Chief Minister Bugti urged young people to make wise choices about their future, stressing that education, skills, and development lead to prosperity, while violence only leads to destruction. He assured that the government’s doors remain open even for those currently on the path of violence, should they choose to return to the national mainstream.
