CM Sarfraz Bugti orders strict action in Child Marriage Case in Kuchlak
Quetta, Chief Minister Balochistan Mir Sarfraz Bugti has taken notice of the disturbing case of a minor girl allegedly married to an elderly man in Kuchlak, directing authorities to ensure strict legal action and protection for the child.
According to Deputy Commissioner Chaman Habib Bangulzai, the girl’s father, Abdul Bari, has been arrested from Chaman. He confirmed that coordination is underway with Quetta police for registration of an FIR and transfer of the accused. Habib Bangulzai further noted that the incident appears to be linked with the recent killing of a 15‑year‑old girl in Kachlak.
Aide to the Chief Minister on Media and Political Affairs Shahid Rind stated that all necessary measures are being taken to arrest the prime suspect and any other individuals involved. He stressed that no one implicated in the case will be considered above the law.
Shahid Rind added that, on the Chief Minister’s instructions, a comprehensive investigation is in progress to examine all aspects of the incident. He assured that effective steps are being taken to safeguard the child and deliver justice, emphasizing that negligence or leniency will not be tolerated.
The provincial government has directed police and district administration to expedite efforts for the arrest of the main accused and possible accomplices. Rind reaffirmed that all facts emerging from the investigation will be dealt with strictly in accordance with the law.
Highlighting the government’s stance, Shahid Rind said Balochistan is committed to enforcing child protection laws and has a clear policy against child marriages. He pointed out that legislation prohibiting underage marriages is already in place in the province, and its implementation will be ensured.
