Balochistan CM vows to Strengthen Police capacity in counter‑terrorism drive, reaffirms Police’s frontline role in fight against terrorism
Chief Minister Balochistan Mir Sarfraz Bugti has reaffirmed the provincial government’s commitment to enhancing the capacity of police, declaring that every possible resource will be provided to strengthen their role in the fight against terrorism.
Presiding over a high‑level meeting on provincial security and policing reforms, the Chief Minister reviewed the overall security situation, departmental reforms, adoption of modern technology, and measures to counter terrorism. Additional Chief Secretary (Home) Muhammad Hamza Shafqat and Inspector General Police Balochistan Muhammad Tahir Khan briefed the meeting on ongoing initiatives and challenges.
It was decided to launch the Quetta Integrated Security Project, which will include the installation of 2,900 surveillance cameras under the Quetta Green Digital Corridor. The project also envisages establishing new Quick Response Force stations to ensure rapid and effective action during emergencies. A modern command‑and‑control system will be introduced to enhance coordination and boost the operational capacity of security institutions.
The meeting was informed that 871 police personnel guilty of absenteeism and negligence have been dismissed, while services of 1,005 policemen deployed with various individuals have been returned to the department.
Highlighting the sacrifices of police officers, CM Bugti said: “Police are on the frontline, offering their lives for the peace of the province and the country. If we have deployed them against terrorism, we will also provide full patronage.” He directed that police be equipped with modern training, essential equipment, and all required resources to meet current challenges.
He stressed that reforms in policing aim to make the institution stronger, accountable, and people‑friendly. Strict departmental discipline and accountability will be enforced, while officers demonstrating good performance will be encouraged.
