Balochistan Women’s Parliamentary Caucus demands justice for Asma Jatak’s family
The Balochistan Women’s Parliamentary Caucus has expressed solidarity with Asma Jatak and her family, demanding immediate justice and the arrest of all suspects involved in the recent killing of her father, Master Inayatullah Jatak.
In a statement, the caucus voiced deep sorrow and concern over the threats, forced marriage attempts, abduction, violence, and repeated attacks allegedly faced by Asma Jatak and her family for several years. Members said the brutal murder of her father was not only an irreparable tragedy for the family but also a matter of grave concern for society and a serious question mark on the rule of law.
The caucus reaffirmed that violence against women, forced marriages, abductions, threats, and coercion are unacceptable in any civilized society. It demanded that all suspects be arrested without delay, transparent investigations be conducted, and exemplary punishment be ensured under the law.
The caucus noted that it has remained in constant contact with relevant authorities to convey its concerns. The issue was also raised in the recent session of the Balochistan Assembly, where Speaker directed the Inspector General of Police to ensure the immediate arrest of all suspects, take effective legal action, and submit a progress report to the Assembly Secretariat by Monday.
The Women’s Caucus appreciated the provincial government and law‑enforcement agencies for taking serious notice of the incident. It pledged to continue close coordination with authorities to prioritize investigation and legal proceedings, bring the perpetrators to justice, and provide timely protection and assistance to the affected family.
Reaffirming its unwavering support, the caucus declared that it will stand firmly with Asma Jatak and her family until justice is delivered. It also reiterated its commitment to safeguarding women’s rights, strengthening the rule of law, and building a safe, fair, and accountable Balochistan.
