CM Sarfraz Bugti vows safer highways to boost trade and transport
Chief Minister Balochistan Mir Sarfraz Bugti has said that making the province’s highways safe, peaceful, and fully functional is essential not only for the public but also for the promotion of trade and economic activities.
He expressed these views during a meeting with Parliamentary Secretary for Transport Mir Liaquat Ali Lehri, who led a delegation of transporters and representatives of the All Pakistan Mazda Truck Goods Transport Association. The meeting discussed challenges facing the transport sector, law and order on national highways, trade activities, and ways to strengthen freight systems.
The session was also attended by Secretary Transport Balochistan Hayat Khan, Special Secretary Home Abdul Salam Khan Achakzai, Principal Secretary to the CM Imran Zarkoon, and Additional Secretary to the CM Muhammad Fareedun Khan. The delegation included Association Chairman Mir Nawab Mengal, prominent transporters Mir Daulat Khan Lehri, Rahim Kakar, Noor Ahmed Kakar, Haji Yaseen Mengal, Noorullah Tareen, Haji Muhammad Ibrahim Benchari, Agha Dadullah, Haji Khalil, Tahir Ahmed Mengal, and Agha.
The transporters apprised the Chief Minister of issues faced by traders and goods carriers, including difficulties encountered during travel and administrative concerns.
CM Sarfraz Bugti assured the delegation that the transport sector, being the backbone of the provincial and national economy, will receive priority attention. He pledged that genuine issues of transporters will be resolved in phases and directed relevant departments to take necessary steps. He emphasized that maintaining law and order on highways is a top priority, instructing all concerned institutions to ensure a safe environment for passengers, transporters, and traders.
“The government will continue consultations with all stakeholders to strengthen the transport sector, promote business activities, and provide better travel facilities to the people,” he said.
The delegation thanked the Chief Minister for his assurances and expressed their commitment to extend full cooperation with the government in addressing challenges and advancing the province’s transport system.
