Governor Mandokhail praises literacy gains, announces support for top learners

 

Governor Balochistan Jaffar Khan Mandokhail has hailed the province’s education sector for achieving a 7 percent increase in overall literacy and successfully bringing 768,000 children back to schools, describing it as a proud accomplishment of the Education Department.

 

Speaking at a ceremony organized by the Directorate of Education Schools and UNICEF, the Governor said that under the Prime Minister’s education program, the establishment of ten Danish Schools across the province would spark an educational revolution, promoting quality learning on a large scale and paving the way for a brighter future for the younger generation.

 

Mandokhail also lauded the outstanding performance of the top ten learners in healthcare skills training, announcing a cash award of Rs. 50,000 each. He commended the collaborative efforts of UNICEF, the Education Department, and Bolan Medical University in advancing skills development, which he termed the need of the hour.

 

Highlighting future plans, the Governor expressed his desire to establish a 1,000‑bed modern hospital and a technical university near Kuch Road in Quetta’s suburbs. He said these institutions would provide world‑class training in healthcare, engineering, information technology, and other modern disciplines. He stressed that integrating skills development into the academic curriculum was essential to equip the youth with practical abilities and modern expertise, enabling them to play an effective role in national progress.

 

The ceremony was attended by Provincial Education Minister Raheela Hameed Khan Durrani, MNA Jamal Shah Kakar, Parliamentary Secretary Barkat Rind, MPA Kulsoom Niaz, Vice Chancellor Bolan Medical University Dr. Shabbir Lehri, Education Secretary Lal Jan Jaffar, Principal Secretary to the Governor Abdul Nasir Dotani, and UNICEF representatives including Sehrish Nagi, Shazia, Iftikhar Shah, Naqeebullah Khilji, and Noorullah Watandost.

 

Earlier, Governor Mandokhail distributed certificates among the top ten learners of healthcare skills training and presented commemorative shields to organizers. Provincial Education Minister Raheela Durrani and Vice Chancellor Dr. Shabbir Lehri also addressed the gathering, emphasizing the importance of skills development for the province’s youth.
