Iran’s Foreign Ministry spokesperson said that Tehran and Muscat have reached an understanding on the geographical aspects of the shipping route through the Strait of Hormuz, with a formal announcement expected in the final stage.
Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baghaei said that if no third party intervenes, the agreement reached between Iran and Oman is likely to be announced soon.
He stressed that the potential agreement is not intended to make the Strait of Hormuz completely secure or free from all restrictions.
Instead, he said, it relates to the administrative management of the strategic maritime route.
Baghaei also said there are currently no plans for Iran’s foreign minister or the speaker of parliament to visit Pakistan or Qatar.
