University of Balochistan achieves 82 percent ranking; Governor Mandokhail calls for stronger scademic standards and financial discipline

Governor Balochistan Jaffar Khan Mandokhail has hailed the University of Balochistan’s remarkable achievement in raising its ranking and scoring from 42 percent to 82 percent, describing it as an extraordinary success that reflects effective leadership, improved administrative strategy, and continuous enhancement of academic standards.

Presiding over the university’s 13th Senate meeting, the Governor urged Vice Chancellor Dr. Zahoor Ahmad Bazai and his team to further strengthen educational quality, reduce unnecessary expenditures, and reinforce financial discipline. He emphasized that the institution must continue to focus on excellence in teaching and research while ensuring transparency in governance.

The Senate meeting was attended by Chief Justice of the Balochistan High Court Justice Kamran Khan Malakhail, Provincial Education Minister Raheela Hamid Khan Durrani, Vice Chancellor Dr. Zahoor Ahmad Bazai, Provincial Secretary Higher Education Saleh Baloch, HEC representative Hasnain, Principal Secretary to Governor Abdul Nasir Dotani, senior officials, and Senate members. The Governor, Chief Justice, and Education Minister remained present throughout the five‑hour session, underscoring their commitment to education and the future of Balochistan’s youth.

Governor Mandokhail highlighted the need to establish effective linkages with industries, pharmaceutical companies, and agricultural research centers to generate new opportunities for research, innovation, employment, and financial resources, thereby making the university more self‑reliant. He praised the university for becoming the first in the province to adopt a paperless administrative system under digital transformation, calling it an environmentally friendly and commendable initiative. He announced plans to extend this paperless model to the Governor Secretariat and other public sector universities. In recognition of his role, the university’s IT Director Muhammad Salal Khan will be awarded a special appreciation letter.

During the meeting, Chief Justice Kamran Khan Malakhail noted that while the introduction of the BS program was a significant advancement in higher education, the discontinuation of FA and BA degrees has closed doors for thousands of private candidates, particularly those facing economic and social constraints. He stressed the importance of continuing private education opportunities to ensure equal access to higher education for all.

The Senate session concluded with several important decisions based on the recommendations and proposals of its members, reflecting a collective resolve to strengthen academic standards, governance, and inclusivity in higher education across Balochistan.
