CM orders crackdown on substandard flour in Quetta; 24 arrested
Quetta, Chief Minister Balochistan, Mir Sarfraz Bugti, took strong notice of reports circulating on social media regarding the sale of substandard flour and directed authorities to launch effective action against violators. Acting on his instructions and the strict directives of Deputy Commissioner Quetta, Mehrullah Badini, joint teams of the district administration and the Balochistan Food Authority carried out extensive operations across the city.
During the crackdown, 24 individuals were arrested and sent to jail, while four shops were sealed. Several other shopkeepers were issued stern warnings. The operations targeted multiple areas including Sariab Road, Kuarri Road, Kandhari Bazaar, Masjid Road, departmental stores in the city, Airport Road, Almo Chowk, Nawan Killi, Bhosa Mandi, and Sarki Road.
The raids were supervised by Assistant Commissioner (Sadar) Muhammad Yousaf Hashmi, Assistant Commissioner (City) Muhammad Amir Hamza, and Assistant Commissioner (Sariab) Captain (R) Kabir Mazari, alongside teams from the Food Authority.
Deputy Commissioner Quetta, Mehrullah Badini, stated that indiscriminate action will continue against those selling substandard flour to ensure citizens have access to safe and quality food items.
