Chief Secretary chairs Secretaries Committee meeting, reviews governance and reforms
Quetta, Chief Secretary Balochistan Shakeel Qadir Khan chaired a high-level meeting of provincial administrative secretaries to review matters related to governance, finance, development, and public service delivery. The meeting was attended by the Senior Member Board of Revenue, Chairman CMIT, Additional Chief Secretary (Development & Planning), Secretary Finance, and other administrative secretaries.
At the outset, progress on departmental instructions and implementation of government decisions was examined. The Chief Secretary emphasized that timely and effective implementation of official directives is the hallmark of good governance, urging all departments to ensure verifiable progress on performance, targets, and outcomes.
The meeting also reviewed the system for addressing public complaints. The Chief Secretary directed that citizens’ grievances must be resolved on a priority basis, with proper records of registration, action, and resolution maintained to ensure transparency and immediate relief.
He announced that recruitment processes will be completed under a modern AI-based transparent system, designed to guarantee merit, equal opportunity, and impartiality. This system will assess candidates’ qualifications, experience, and eligibility without human interference, minimizing risks of bias or injustice. He stressed that all stages must strictly follow rules and regulations, ensuring every deserving candidate receives their rightful opportunity.
The Chief Secretary further instructed that a complete record of government vehicles and assets be maintained. The meeting also discussed departmental databases, their integration, and the effective use of data for decision-making. He highlighted that accurate, timely, and integrated information is vital for modern governance, and departments must keep their data updated to promote transparent and swift decision-making through digital systems.
Pending legal cases, financial accounts, and matters concerning autonomous bodies were also deliberated. Secretaries were directed to ensure effective legal follow-up, protection of government interests, and strict financial discipline.
The Chief Secretary reiterated that the provincial government is committed to providing better facilities to citizens, ensuring transparent administration, merit-based systems, and timely completion of development projects. He instructed all administrative secretaries to focus on improving departmental performance, field monitoring, prompt resolution of public complaints, and full implementation of government policies.
