BFA action against adulterated milk and yogurt in Quetta

The Balochistan Food Authority (BFA) has launched a crackdown against adulterated milk and yogurt in Quetta, exposing violations and taking immediate action against offenders.

Inspection teams, accompanied by the Assistant Commissioner Sariab and Special Magistrate, carried out operations in the Eastern Bypass and Jatak Stop areas. During the campaign, eight dairy farms and several milk shops were thoroughly checked.

The teams imposed fines on four establishments, sealed one milk shop, and confiscated 12 packets of Oxytocin injections used on livestock. Violations included unhygienic conditions, poor handling and storage of milk, lack of proper records, and adulteration.

At two dairy farms, fines were imposed for unhygienic practices and improper storage. At two milk shops, owners were penalized for adulteration and operating without BFA licenses. One shop was sealed after tests revealed 21 percent water mixed in milk and powdered substances added to yogurt.

The inspection also uncovered the use of Oxytocin injections on animals, raising serious health concerns.

Officials directed dairy farm owners and milk sellers to strictly follow food safety SOPs and warned that violations would not be tolerated.
