Governor Balochistan calls for concrete measures to improve power supply
Quetta, Governor Balochistan Jaffar Khan Mandokhail has stressed that mere announcements are not enough to improve the electricity supply system, and that practical steps with continuity must be ensured. He directed that unannounced load-shedding be ended immediately and solid measures taken to provide uninterrupted electricity to consumers with proper voltage.
During a briefing by QESCO Chief Executive Officer Engineer Mirza Azaz Baig, the Governor instructed QESCO officials to make their administrative procedures more efficient and people-friendly. He emphasized that complaints received at helpline 118 must be addressed promptly and that staff must adopt courteous behavior with consumers.
Governor Jaffar Mandokhail noted that load-shedding, low voltage, and particularly overbilling have severely affected even those consumers who regularly pay their bills. He stressed the importance of facilitating such responsible consumers and ensuring their problems are resolved. He further urged that payment of dues to WAPDA and related institutions be prioritized to improve financial and administrative performance and reduce unnecessary pressure on the power system.
He directed that electricity supply to major government offices during working hours, as well as hospitals, educational institutions, and other essential public centers, be given special priority since their routine activities depend directly on continuous power. The Governor also appealed to the public to cooperate by paying electricity bills on time, adding that while it is the responsibility of the government and power institutions to provide better facilities, consumer cooperation is equally vital for strengthening the system and improving service delivery.
