MD BTEVTA meets German Ambassador; focus on global standards, skill development, and employment pathways

 

Managing Director of the Balochistan Technical Education and Vocational Training Authority (BTEVTA) Abdul Kabeer Khan Zarkoon held a meeting with German Ambassador to Pakistan Ina Lepel, accompanied by Mirjam Budenbender‑Buchholz, Counsellor and Head of German Development Cooperation, and Mir Murad Baloch, Honorary Consul General of Germany.

 

The meeting focused on aligning Balochistan’s Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) sector with contemporary global standards, enhancing educational quality, and creating international employment pathways for skilled youth, particularly in Germany.

 

During the interaction, MD BTEVTA Abdul Kabeer Khan Zarkoon expressed deep gratitude for Germany’s long‑standing technical assistance and historic contributions to Balochistan’s TVET sector through organizations such as GIZ. He noted that Germany’s support in modernizing curricula, strengthening institutional infrastructure, and introducing dual vocational training systems has empowered thousands of young people with sustainable skills.

 

Ambassador Ina Lepel engaged in detailed discussions on promoting vocational education and incorporating emerging modern technologies. She assured BTEVTA of Germany’s continued cooperation and firm commitment to supporting technical skill development and empowering the youth of Balochistan.

 

Zarkoon briefed the delegation on Balochistan’s immense economic potential and identified strategic sectors requiring specialized skill development. He highlighted BTEVTA’s focus on modern mining and mineral processing technologies in light of mega‑projects such as Reko Diq and Saindak, maritime engineering and blue economy initiatives centered around Gwadar Port, renewable solar and wind energy systems, modern agriculture and water conservation techniques, and high‑demand digital IT skills. The discussion also covered capacity‑building programs for BTEVTA master trainers and instructors, as well as frameworks to grant certified Balochistani youth direct access to job opportunities in the German industrial market.

 

The meeting was also attended by Ghulam Mustafa Raisani, Director BTEVTA, and Taimoor Zafar, Assistant Director BTEVTA, who shared recommendations to further strengthen vocational education and align provincial training programs with international industry standards.
