Balochistan signs MoU with University of Oslo to strengthen digital health and implement DHIS2
In a major step toward strengthening the province’s health infrastructure, the Balochistan Health Department and the University of Oslo’s HISP Centre have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to advance digital health systems and ensure the effective implementation of DHIS2. According to the briefing, the agreement aims to consolidate the digital health framework in Balochistan, focusing on the digitalization of primary healthcare, integration of artificial intelligence, and promotion of local innovations in the health sector. Climate change and its impact on healthcare delivery will also be addressed under the collaboration. Chief Minister Balochistan Mir Sarfraz Bugti expressed satisfaction over the signing of the MoU, describing it as an important milestone in the province’s journey toward modern healthcare reforms. He praised Provincial Health Minister Bakht Muhammad Kakar and the Health Department team for their efforts, noting that cooperation with the University of Oslo will play a vital role in building a modern digital health system in Balochistan. Sarfraz Bugti emphasized that the use of artificial intelligence and advanced technology will encourage local innovations and improve the delivery of healthcare services. He added that partnerships with international academic and technical institutions will help sustain reforms in the provincial health system, ensuring better monitoring, planning, and public service delivery. The Chief Minister further said that digital health systems will provide timely and accurate information, strengthen data?driven decision?making, and enhance the efficiency of healthcare facilities. He reaffirmed that the provincial government is committed to ensuring that citizens receive improved and effective medical services through the adoption of modern technology.
