Dr. Abdul Rahman Brahui conferred Kamal-e-Fan Award 2025 for outstanding literary services

A ceremony to confer the Kamal-e-Fan Award 2025 upon eminent poet, writer and intellectual Dr. Abdul Rahman Brahui was held at the Quetta office of the Pakistan Academy of Letters (PAL). Federal Minister for National Heritage and Culture Division Aurangzeb Khan Khichi was the chief guest, while Federal Secretary for National Heritage and Culture Division Asad Rehman Gilani also attended the ceremony. A large number of prominent writers, poets, intellectuals, literary figures and artists participated in the event. The ceremony was moderated by renowned writer Abdul Qayyum Bedar. Addressing the gathering, Federal Minister Aurangzeb Khan Khichi said that Pakistan is a multilingual and multicultural country, where diverse languages, cultures, traditions and literary heritage collectively represent the country’s national identity. He said that Balochistan was not merely a land of rugged mountains and vast geographical landscapes, but also held a distinctive identity because of its rich culture, ancient traditions and diverse literary and artistic heritage. The Federal Minister said that writers, poets, artists and musicians from Balochistan had played an important role in highlighting the province’s cultural identity through their creativity and artistic contributions, while also bringing recognition to Pakistan at the national and international levels. He said that one of the government’s priorities was to promote literary, cultural and artistic activities in remote and less-developed areas of the country at the national level and to provide writers and artists from these regions greater opportunities to become part of the mainstream literary and cultural landscape. Paying tribute to Dr. Abdul Rahman Brahui’s literary and scholarly contributions, speakers said that he had rendered valuable services for the promotion and preservation of Brahui literature throughout his long literary career. Through his creative and research work, he had also played an important role in introducing Balochistan’s rich literary heritage at the national level. At the conclusion of the ceremony, financial assistance cheques under the Prime Minister’s Artists Welfare Fund were also distributed among prominent artists of Balochistan. The initiative aims to acknowledge the valuable services of artists and provide support to them in addressing their financial difficulties. The writers, poets, intellectuals and artists attending the ceremony appreciated the efforts of the Pakistan Academy of Letters to recognize the literary and cultural contributions of Balochistan’s writers and artists and to highlight their services at the national level.
