BFA crackdown against adulterated milk and yogurt continues in Quetta

Quetta, The Balochistan Food Authority (BFA) has intensified its crackdown against adulterated milk and yogurt in Quetta, with the campaign entering its third consecutive day.

According to officials, major operations were conducted on Raisani Road, Toghi Road, Alamdar Road, Jan Muhammad Road, CPEC Road, and Nawan Killi Bypass. During the drive, inspections were carried out at 19 milk shops, 52 milk‑carrying vehicles and motorcycles, and three home‑based production units.

The authority imposed fines on 16 units for violations, while two outlets were sealed over serious breaches. In total, the quality of 16,150 liters of milk was tested on the spot, with 570 liters of adulterated milk destroyed. Similarly, 360 kilograms of yogurt was checked, of which 200 kilograms was discarded due to poor quality and adulteration.

Mobile laboratories confirmed adulteration in several samples, detecting water content ranging from 10 percent to 37 percent, along with cases of skimmed milk mixing. Officials noted that violations included unlicensed businesses, poor hygiene, contaminated milk cans, improper storage, and disregard for health standards.

The BFA stated that the campaign is being carried out under the directives of the Provincial Minister and Chairman of the Authority, with the aim of ensuring the supply of pure and safe milk and yogurt to the public.
