Governor highlights introduction of modern disciplines at Women University, announces Zhob Campus

Quetta, Governor Balochistan Jaffar Khan Mandokhail has said that keeping in view future value and international trends, modern and market‑driven disciplines including Artificial Intelligence, Medical Lab Technology, Human Nutrition and Dietetics are being introduced at the Sardar Bahadur Khan Women University.

He emphasized that these programs will equip female students with advanced scientific knowledge and technological skills, enabling them to contribute not only at the local level but also in national and global job markets.

Governor Jaffar Mandokhail further announced the establishment of a Women University campus in Zhob, which will create new opportunities for thousands of female students across the division. He noted that many talented students from remote areas are unable to continue their education due to financial constraints, travel difficulties, and socio‑economic barriers. The Zhob campus, he said, will bring higher education closer to their doorstep and help them realize their academic aspirations.

Speaking during a meeting with Vice Chancellor Professor Dr. Rubina Mushtaq at Governor House Quetta, Mandokhail stressed that in today’s rapidly changing digital world, the market value of some traditional subjects is declining, while disciplines such as Artificial Intelligence, Data Sciences, Nutrition, and modern laboratory technologies are becoming essential for human life and the modern economy. He underscored the need for public sector universities to align their academic programs with future requirements, higher education policy, and market demands.

“Our priority is not merely to award academic degrees but to provide quality education that connects the new generation with modern knowledge, digital skills, and emerging employment opportunities,” he said. Bridging the gap between curriculum and market needs, he added, is vital to ensure that graduates possess employable skills alongside their degrees.

Governor Mandokhail highlighted that Artificial Intelligence is not just a new subject but a transformative force across industries including education, health, agriculture, finance, and governance. He called for investment in preparing human resources in these fields to meet future challenges. He also emphasized that providing women with modern and quality education is directly linked to the economic and social development of society. Universities, he said, must focus on research, innovation, digital skills, entrepreneurship, and industry linkages to enable female graduates to pursue jobs as well as create new business opportunities.

Vice Chancellor Dr. Rubina Mushtaq thanked the Governor for his support and guidance, noting that with the Chancellor’s backing, the university has successfully overcome administrative and financial challenges. She said the institution has achieved significant improvements in its ranking and scoring, with overall performance nearly doubling. She added that practical steps are underway to launch modern academic programs, promote research, enhance educational standards, and create new opportunities for female students.
