BFA launches crackdown on adulterated milk and yogurt in Quetta and Loralai
The Balochistan Food Authority (BFA) has launched a special campaign against adulterated milk and yogurt in Quetta and Loralai.
During large-scale inspections of milk vendors, shops, vehicles, and suspected locations, authorities sealed two units and imposed fines on 18 suppliers on the first day of the drive.
A total of 59 milk-carrying vehicles and motorcycles, along with seven shops, were checked. Around 19,221 liters of milk and a large quantity of yogurt were tested, leading to the destruction of nearly 2,000 liters found adulterated or of poor quality.
Mobile laboratories detected the presence of water and skimmed milk powder in samples, resulting in immediate action and confiscation of milk containers. Violations of hygiene standards, poor storage, contaminated utensils, and unlicensed businesses were also penalized.
The BFA spokesperson stated that the campaign will continue until the supply of pure and healthy milk is ensured across the province.
