Balochistan Assembly Education Committee reviews Tameer-e-Nau University Quetta Bill 2026
Quetta, The Standing Committee on Education of the Balochistan Provincial Assembly convened at the Assembly Secretariat’s committee room under the chairmanship of Khair Jan Baloch to review the Tameer-e-Nau University Quetta Bill 2026.
Committee members Rahmat Saleh Baloch, Mir Jehanzaib Mengal, and Mir Liaquat Ali Lehri attended the session, alongside Assembly Secretary Tahir Shah Kakar, Higher Education Secretary Hashim Ghilzai, Special Secretary Abdul Rahman, Tameer-e-Nau Trust Board Member Hafiz Tahir, and Additional Law Secretary Saeed Iqbal, among other officials.
The bill aims to establish Tameer-e-Nau University Quetta under the private sector to promote quality higher education, research, innovation, and human resource development in Balochistan. Officials highlighted that the university would expand access to higher education, strengthen linkages between academia and industry, foster entrepreneurship and technology, and contribute to the province’s socio-economic development. The institution would operate under relevant laws, government policies, and standards set by the Government of Balochistan and the Higher Education Commission (HEC), ensuring compliance with quality assurance principles.
Committee member Rahmat Saleh Baloch praised Tameer-e-Nau’s contributions to education and social welfare, noting the significant role of its founders in advancing academic and community development.
Members described the bill as a positive step, emphasizing that the establishment of a new private university could strengthen Balochistan’s higher education system. They stressed the importance of fostering healthy competition between public and private institutions, improving educational standards, and providing modern learning opportunities for youth. They also underscored the need to equip public universities with adequate resources, administrative support, and research facilities to ensure a robust overall system of higher education.
Chairman Khair Jan Baloch thanked members and highlighted the importance of education-related legislation. He noted that while reviewing such bills, the interests of both public and private institutions, educational standards, and the broader welfare of students must remain central. He reiterated that prioritizing education is essential for the province’s progress and prosperity.
