Fishing Boat registration and licensing drive underway in Gwadar

Gwadar, Acting on the directives of Director General Balochistan Fisheries Atique Ullah Khan, the provincial government has accelerated the process of registration, measurement, inspection, and licensing of fishing boats in Gwadar. The initiative is part of the government’s policy to promote the welfare of fishermen and regulate the fisheries sector on legal and organized lines.

The operations are being supervised by Assistant Director Fisheries Gwadar Shah Fahad, with field teams from the Gwadar Fisheries Station conducting inspections. Boats are being measured, their structure and documentation verified, and registration numbers allotted to eligible vessels. Licenses are then issued in accordance with prescribed rules, with charges collected based on the size of each boat.

Officials explained that the initiative aims to streamline the fisheries sector, ensure compliance with regulations, and improve facilities for fishermen. They appealed to boat owners to complete their registration, measurement, and inspection within the stipulated period to avoid complications and to benefit from the improved system.

The Fisheries Department emphasized that the campaign will not only strengthen regulatory oversight but also enhance opportunities for sustainable fishing practices, ultimately contributing to the welfare of the fishing community and the development of the sector in Gwadar.
