Governor Balochistan and Health Minister discuss reforms, digital health system
Quetta, Governor Balochistan Jaffar Khan Mandokhail met with Provincial Health Minister Bakht Muhammad Kakar to review the overall state of public health services in the province, including hospital performance, availability of medicines, attendance of doctors and paramedical staff, and ongoing reforms with a particular focus on the Digitalized Health Information System.
During the meeting, Governor Mandokhail said that introducing new reforms in any ministry reflects the vision of the minister and his team, as well as their awareness of present realities and future needs. He emphasized that the implementation of a digitalized health information system would strengthen and modernize the entire healthcare structure, providing it with a solid foundation.
The Governor highlighted the establishment of a new trauma center and the monitoring of hospitals, basic health units, labor rooms, and other medical facilities at the district level through digital systems as a significant step forward. He noted that such measures would ensure efficiency, transparency, and accountability in healthcare delivery.
Jaffar Mandokhail further stressed that providing health facilities in remote and underdeveloped areas of Balochistan cannot rely solely on provincial resources. He underscored the importance of seeking assistance, technical guidance, and capacity-building programs from United Nations agencies and other international organizations, to strengthen the province’s healthcare system and expand its reach.
The meeting reaffirmed the provincial government’s commitment to modernizing healthcare infrastructure and ensuring that reforms are implemented effectively to meet the needs of citizens across Balochistan.
