Defence Day Mushaira highlights unity and cultural harmony in Quetta

 

Quetta, On the directives of Provincial Advisor for Sports and Youth Affairs, Meena Majeed Baloch, the Department of Sports and Youth Affairs, in collaboration with Bazm-e-Saim Adabiat Academy, organized a grand Mushaira at Government Girls College Jinnah Town to mark Defence Day of Pakistan. The event brought together renowned poets and writers from across Balochistan, representing diverse languages and cultural traditions.

 

The Mushaira was presided over by senior Pashto and Urdu poet Sarwar Sudai, while Member Provincial Assembly Sanjay Kumar attended as chief guest. Poets from Pashto, Brahui, Balochi, Urdu, and Sindhi presented selected verses that celebrated patriotism, national unity, and the spirit of defense.

 

Among the prominent participants were Sarwar Javed, Ejaz Amar, Noor Khan Nawab, Farzana Khidrzai, Tasneem Sanam, Rasheed Hasrat, Kamran Qamar, Zahid Dashti, Noor Baloch, and others, who captivated the audience with their poetry. Students of Government Girls College and emerging young poets also presented passionate verses, earning enthusiastic applause.

 

In his address, chief guest Sanjay Kumar praised the role of poets and writers in awakening national consciousness, noting that Meena Majeed Baloch had successfully brought together voices from all languages of Balochistan, promoting literature, unity, brotherhood, and intercultural harmony. He emphasized that the province’s linguistic diversity is a valuable cultural asset, and such events strengthen mutual respect and cohesion.

 

Director Youth Affairs Sajjad Aslam Baloch highlighted the department’s commitment to providing constructive opportunities for youth, stressing that poets and writers play a vital role in shaping society’s intellectual and cultural direction. He pledged continued support for young literary talent and initiatives that promote culture and creativity.

 

The event concluded with the distribution of awards and honors among poets, youth, and participants, reflecting the spirit of Defence Day, a celebration of sacrifice, unity, and national pride.
