Election Commission’s new district complex inaugurated in Hub

 

Hub, Member Election Commission Balochistan, Shah Muhammad Jatoi, inaugurated the newly constructed District Election Commission Complex in Hub. The ceremony was attended by Election Commissioner Balochistan Ali Asghar Sial, Commissioner and DIG Lasbela Division, Deputy Commissioner, senior officials, tribal elders, lawyers, and members of civil society.

 

The project, initiated in December 2023, was handed over to the Communication and Works Department in November 2024 after the dissolution of the Public Works Department. At that time, the physical progress stood at 40 percent. Under the supervision of engineers from the Communication and Works Department, the complex was completed in 18 months despite budgetary constraints.

 

According to official briefings, the state-of-the-art building was constructed at a cost of Rs. 270 million, with total expenditures recorded at Rs. 243.515 million so far. The estimated cost of the project is Rs. 267.995 million, while Rs. 24 million worth of work related to electricity, water, and other facilities remains pending.

 

Commissioner Lasbela Division Saira Atta praised the project as a model of good governance under the vision of Chief Minister Sarfraz Bugti, emphasizing transparency in the use of approved funds. She noted that the provision of modern facilities in public institutions sets a precedent for other departments.

 

Election Commissioner Balochistan Ali Asghar Sial highlighted that four similar complexes have been constructed in Gwadar, Hub, Mastung, and Jaffarabad, while offices in 16 districts are already operational. He credited Chief Election Commissioner Sultan Raja for his pivotal role in advancing development projects in the province.

 

Member Election Commission Shah Muhammad Jatoi described the Hub complex as one of the most beautiful and model buildings in Balochistan. He added that merit-based recruitment has ensured that 40 percent of jobs are allocated to women. Jatoi expressed gratitude to civil society and the legal fraternity for their participation, noting his longstanding association with the lawyers’ community as a former president of the High Court Bar.
