Balochistan Police introduces modern handheld identification device, presented to CM Sarfraz Bugti

In a major step toward modernizing policing, Balochistan Police has introduced a state‑of‑the‑art handheld identification device designed to make law enforcement more efficient and technology‑driven. Inspector General of Police Balochistan Muhammad Tahir Khan formally presented the device to Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti during a ceremony at the Central Police Office, Quetta.

Chief Secretary Balochistan Shakeel Qadir Khan and Additional Chief Secretary Interior Muhammad Hamza Shafqaat were also present on the occasion.

The handheld identification device enables instant verification of citizens’ identities on the spot, with immediate access to available police and criminal records. This innovation will significantly assist police personnel in streamlining the process of identity checks and record validation.

As part of the broader digitalization program of Balochistan Police, the device aims to align traditional policing methods with modern technology, enhancing institutional capacity and ensuring timely, reliable services for citizens.

Chief Minister Bugti praised the initiative, commending the police for embracing digital reforms and advanced technology to strengthen the policing system. He emphasized that such measures will not only improve operational efficiency but also build greater public trust in law enforcement.
