Open Court in Sohbatpur strengthens public-administration linkages
Sohbatpur, In line with the directives of Chief Minister Balochistan Mir Sarfraz Bugti and Chief Secretary Shakil Qadir Khan, and under the provincial government’s policy of addressing public grievances on priority, an open court (khuli kacheri) was convened in Sohbatpur district. The session was presided over by Deputy Commissioner Sohbatpur Fareeda Tareen.
The open court brought together district heads, officers, and staff from all relevant departments, while a large number of citizens from across the district attended to present their concerns both verbally and in writing. Issues raised by the public included education, law and order, irrigation, drinking water, electricity, revenue, roads, sanitation, and drainage, among other basic needs.
Deputy Commissioner Fareeda Tareen listened attentively and patiently to the complaints. On several matters, she issued on-the-spot directives to concerned officials to ensure immediate resolution, while for other issues she provided clear instructions to departments for timely action. She emphasized that the purpose of holding open courts is to strengthen direct communication between the administration and the public, offering citizens an effective platform to seek redressal of their problems.
She assured participants that the district administration is always available to serve the people and that no citizen should face unnecessary hurdles in resolving legitimate issues. Officials were instructed not to limit complaints to paperwork but to take practical steps to provide relief.
Highlighting the provincial government’s policy, the Deputy Commissioner stressed that public problems must be resolved on a priority basis and that the performance of government institutions should align with the demands of public service. She pledged that all genuine issues raised during the open court would be addressed through the relevant departments, with progress monitored closely.
She further noted that open courts are vital for building trust, as they allow officials to directly understand the nature and urgency of public grievances. Citizens were also urged to cooperate with the administration by presenting their genuine concerns, enabling maximum issues to be resolved within available resources.
At the conclusion of the session, participants expressed satisfaction with the administration’s responsiveness and praised the immediate directives issued on several complaints. Community members welcomed the initiative, describing it as a positive step toward strengthening public confidence and ensuring effective governance in Sohbatpur.
