Provincial Minister Shoaib Nosherwani meets mines labour federation, orders strict action on safety and welfare

Provincial Minister for Finance and Minerals Mir Shoaib Nosherwani held a key meeting with a delegation of the Pakistan Mines Labour Federation, discussing miners’ welfare, safety measures, healthcare facilities, and other pressing concerns.

The delegation briefed the minister on the hardships faced by mine workers, including lack of medical facilities, inadequate safety arrangements, and welfare issues. Nosherwani assured that all legitimate demands would be addressed on a priority basis, with coordinated action between the Mines Department and Finance Department.

Expressing strong displeasure over absentee medical staff at mines hospitals in Kachhi and other districts, the minister directed that all hospitals must remain functional and daily attendance reports be submitted to his office. He also ordered that ambulances remain stationed near mining sites at all times to ensure immediate rescue and medical aid in case of accidents.

Shoaib Nosherwani emphasized that negligence in miners’ welfare, health, and safety would not be tolerated. He instructed continuous monitoring of these measures.

The meeting also discussed the Mines Welfare Fund, with a decision to prepare a comprehensive summary in consultation with the Finance Department for grant approval and submission to the Chief Minister.

Highlighting the need for stronger rescue systems, Nosherwani directed that trained rescue personnel be hired on contract basis and provided advanced scientific training at top institutions to enhance their professional capabilities. “The goal is to save precious lives promptly in case of mining accidents,” he said.

The minister reaffirmed his commitment to utilize all available resources for the protection, welfare, and rights of miners, ensuring that safety and welfare measures in the mining sector are made more effective.
