Girls’ Marathon race held in Quetta as part of Independence Day celebrations

As part of Pakistan’s Independence Day 2026 festivities, a special girls’ marathon race was organized in Quetta on Wednesday under the auspices of the provincial government.

 

The event was attended by Advisor to the Chief Minister on Sports and Youth Affairs Meena Majeed Baloch, who served as chief guest, along with Secretary Sports Durra Baloch and Director General Sports Dr. Yasir Bazai.

 

Hundreds of girls participated in the marathon, which began at Shuhada Ziarat Chowk and concluded at Ayub Sports Complex Quetta. The winners were awarded cash prizes of Rs. 50,000, Rs. 30,000, and Rs. 20,000 respectively, while medals were distributed among other outstanding performers.

 

Speaking on the occasion, Advisor Meena Majeed Baloch said that the enthusiastic participation of youth across the province in Independence Day activities since August 1 reflects their immense love for Pakistan. She added that starting the marathon from Shuhada Ziarat Chowk was a symbolic tribute to the brave police martyrs and a clear message of opposition to terrorism.

 

The event highlighted the spirit of national unity, youth engagement, and the promotion of healthy activities as part of the Independence Day celebrations in Balochistan.
